CS-07 Cycling Tour in Yunnan ( 9D8N )

Yunnan is situated in the southwest corner of China, borders Tibet, Burma, Laos and Vietnam, it has everything from towering snow mountain to tropical rain forest, so it is very rich in tourism resources. Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, is called the Spring City of China. Lijiang is an very beautiful old town with a lot of well-kept old buildings, it is also a World Culture Heritage. Zhongdian is regarded as the Shangri-la in recent years, because it is isolated, peaceful, and primitive, surrounded by many snow mountains. Many travelers think this is a golden route in China.


D1 Arrive in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, meet at airport and transfer to your hotel.

D2 Take a morning flight to Lijiang, the beautiful old town which has been listed into the World Culture Heritage. Sightseeing in the old town and the Black Dragon Pond. Overnight in Lijinag.

D3 Drive to Qiaotou Town, which is the entrance to the Tiger-leaping Gorge. Start cycling into the gorge, the road is not paved, the altitude is about 2000 m above see level, you will bike about 12 km to Walnut Grove which is a tranquil village in the middle part of the gorge, overnight in Woody????s House.

D4 Cycle about 20 km to Haba village, out of the gorge, the road start going up. Stay at Snow Sea Hotel.

D5 Cycle about 18 km to Sanba village, visit the White Water Terrace, the sacred land of Naxi Dongba Culture. Your driver will pick you up and drive to Zhongdian, the gateway to Tibet. Zhongdian has only been opened to tourists since 1992. Experience authentic Tibetan culture in this mountainous region. Overnight in Zhongdian(3300 m above sea level).

D6 Today is a tough day, you will ride about 105 km to Wongshui village which is 3700 m above sea level, on the way, the road will go through a mountain pass which is 4300 m high. But the scenery is very beautiful. Now you know why this Tibetan area is called Shangri-la. Stay with a Tibetan family.

D7 Trek about 6 km into the Shangri-la Canyon, sightseeing in the canyon, after having lunch in a Tibetan family, trek out the canyon and drive back to Zhongdian.

D8 Cycle about 8 km to a beautiful alpine lake, Napa Lake, in the morning, the lake is a nature reserve for birds, especially the black-necked crane. After lunch, Visit Songzanlin Monastery, where the Yellow Hat School of Tibetan Buddhism is practiced. This large center, base for 1200 monks before the destruction of Tibet in the 1950s, is experiencing a significant rebirth.
Overnight in Zhongdian.

D9 Take a morning flight back to Kunming. Sightseeing in the Dragon Gate which consist of some grottos cut out of the vertical cliff face of the Western Hill, from there, you can have a panoramic view of the city and the big lake beside it. After lunch, transfer to airport for your departure. ??
