The people of Hani Nationality belong to an ancient ethnic group who live in the deep mountains of Yuanyang county, Honghe Hani and Yi nationality autonomous prefecture of Yunnan. Yuanyang is famous throughout the whole of China for its "terraced rice fields"- no matter how high the mountain is, the fields will not run out of water. When the new year and the festivals come to the Hani villages, families will put their dinner tables together along the main streets and offer their best dishes to the "street feast". They enjoy the feast together, drinking "one heart wine". Everybody is happy and the atmosphere is warm and lively. Such "street feast" reflects the Hani people??s tradition of loving and helping each other.
Day 1 After arriving in Kunming - "the Spring City", you will check into the hotel. Your sightseeing begins in the Western Hills and the Bamboo Temple. The evening ends with an overnight stay in Kunming.
Day 2 Drive to Jianshui by bus. On the way , you will visit a Mongolian Nationality village in Tonghai, in which all the inhabitants are the descendents of the Mongolian conqueror-Kublai Khan. Overnight in Jianshui.
Day 3 After breakfast you will visit the 400 years old Chaoyang Tower. The small city Jianshui is the cultural center of southern Yunnan province. In the past, the people of this city became very rich due to the natural deposits of tin. So now, you can see many private houses with typical chinese architecture style in the city. You will have a chance to visit one of them - Zhu Family Garden which is formed by 250 rooms and 42 courtyards. You can also visit the second largest Confucian-temple in China. Overnight in Jianshui.
Day 4 Drive to Yuanyang, and experience one of the high points of the trip. Get up early in the morning to see the beautiful cloud sea and endless terraced rice fields on the mountain, made by local people thousands of years ago. Then take part in the opening ceremony of the Long-street-feast. Overnight in Yuanyang.
Day 5 Back to Jianshui by bus, to enjoying the fascinating landscape on the way. The evening ends with an overnight stay in Jianshui.
Day 6 Drive to Shilin, where you will stay overnight. On the way visit Swallow Cave.
Day 7 Take a stroll in the Stone Forest. In the afternoon you will return to Kunming.
Day 8 Wander through the Bird and Flower Market. This ends the tour.
