Shibaoshan means treasure mountain. Shibaoshan lies in the southwest part of Jianchuan County - Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, 28 km away from down town. It is famous for its dense forests, sea of flowers, strange and mystic stone and rocks. Among the natural sceneries, you can see several huge groups of stone caves and temples built on the rocks in the Tang Dynasty (1,000 years ago). These have been regarded as "the cultural and religious treasure of southwest China".
On the 29th of the seventh month in the Chinese lunar calendar, all people of Bai Nationality will come from Dali, Jianchuan and Eryuan counties to hold their traditional folk singing fair. During the following three days, several tens of thousands of Bai people get together in Shibao mountain to have their Bai language singing competition, where the young people express their love to each other in a singing match. During this time you will hear a chorus of song, and see a gathering of Bai
people. A truly impressive sight.
Day 1 After arriving in Kunming - "the Spring City", you will check into the hotel. Your sightseeing will begin in the Western Hills and the Bamboo Temple. The evening ends with an overnight stay in Kunming.
Day 2 To explore the Stone Forest in Shilin. Overnight in Kunming.
Day 3 Fly to Dali. Your sightseeing focuses on the impressive old city, the Three Pagodas from the Tang Dynasty, local batik handicraft workshops and Bai housing architecture. Overnight in Dali.
Day 4 Drive to Shibaoshan to take part in the opening ceremony of the Song Festival. Overnight in Shibaoshan.
Day 5 Enjoy the Song Festival. Also, visit the Jianhu Lake.Overnight in Shibaoshan.
Day 6 Drive northwards to Lijiang and enjoy the fascinating landscape. Overnight in Lijiang.
Day 7 There??s so much to see on this tour: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Ten Thousand Camellias in Yufeng Monastery, the Baisha Mural from the Qing Dynasty. You will enjoy a traditional evening with Naxi music. Overnight in Lijiang.
Day 8 In the morning you will visit the Dongba Culture Museum. A pleasant stroll takes you through the historic centre of Lijiang city before returning to Kunming, where you will stay overnight.
Day 9 Wander through the Bird and Flower Market. This ends the tour.
