Located in the southeast of Guangdong Province, Zhuhai is a port at the Pearl River estuary, facing the South China Sea. In the east, it faces Shenzhen and Hong Kong across the sea. In the South, it connects with Macao. In the north, it is 140 kilometers from Guangzhou. The total area including land and sea covers 7,649 square kilometers. The landform of Zhuhai is composed of hills, plains, lakes and sea. The vast sea covers more than 6,000 square kilometers. Zhuhai has the title of "a City of Hundred Islands."
According to the strategy of building Zhuhai into an international economic zone, Zhuhai carries on its construction in city plan, and fundamental facilities ahead of time. Since 1980, to develop the west region of Zhuhai has become the key construction of the city. The projects include deep-water port, large airport, express railway and highways. The convenient transportation in Zhuhai lays a solid foundation for further development of Zhuhai's economy in the future.

The garden-style waiting pavilions at every bus stop are unique in the whole country. Deluxe buses go in and out the Province. Guangzhou--Zhuhai railway began to build in October 1997. The airport is 40 kilometers from downtown. There are 30 airlines to Beijing, Shanghai and other eities with more than 100 flights per week. Ships go between Jiuzhou Port to Shenzhen and Hong Kong every day. Two 20,000-ton piers of Zhuhai port are open. The project of Lingdingyang Bridge has got the State's approval.
