Located at the western foot of Wuhua Mountain, the Green Lake Park is like an emerald embedded in Kunming City.
The park was created in the 17th century and is a group of 4 lakes linked by traditional style bridges. The brightly painted pavilions on the islands, tree lined lanes and beautiful flowers all add to the appeal of Green Lake.
Kunmingers and visitors are all drawn to the park and early in the morning tai chi enthusiasts and would be opera singers can be seen and heard during a stroll around the lake.
During the winter months, Siberian seagulls migrate to Green Lake to escape the arctic chill and entertain the crowds of visitors as they swoop and dive across the lake.
Along the picturesque shores of the Green Lake, numerous Western bars and cafes have sprung up and the area offers not only authentic western food and drinks, but also a Western atmosphere and music.
