Located to the north of the Ningbo River, the Baoguo Temple is best kept among the buildings of the Northern Song Dynasty located to the south of Changjiang River in China. The Precious Hall of the Great Hero is the essence of the whole building. Inside the hall, three pierced panels are ingeniously equipped on the front ceiling of the hall covering the roof beam; therefore, the hall is also called the "Non-beam Hall". Up till now, the phenomena in the Temple keep to be mysteries, for no one knows why no bird enters the temple, no insect eats the wood of the temple, no spider weaves nets in the temple even no dust stick to the beam of the temple. It's now one of the major cultural relics under the protection of the state.
Tiantong Chan Temple
Located in the Taibai Mountain, 25km southeast from the urban area of Ningbo, the Tiantong Chan Temple has a history of more than 1,600 years. It's now one of the major temples in China as well as one of the major cultural relics under the protection of Zhejiang Province. Surrounded by mountains, the large temple covers an area of 5.8 hectares, composed of hundreds of halls, towers, pavilions, houses and so on. Listed in the second place among the five major mountains of Chan Zong Branch of the Buddhism in China, the Tiantong Chan Temple meanwhile is also the birthplace of Caodong Zong-the Buddhism of Japan, which has a tremendous influence on the people of both Japan and Southeast Asia.
Ayu King Temple
Jhe Ayu King Temple is located at the foot of the Huading Peak of the Taibai Mountain, 6-km southeast of the urban area of Ningbo. As the only extant ancient temple in the name of Ayu King, it has a history of more than 1,700 years. It is renowned both at home and abroad for keeping "the Relic of Sakyamuni", the treasure of the Buddhist world. Inside the magnificent temple and the impelling hall, the cultural relics such as buildings, paintings, sculptures, gardens and tablets are well and completely kept.
Xuedou Temple
Located in the Xuedou Mountain Scenic Site of Xikou in Fenghua, the Xuedou Temple, one of the Ten Great Chanzong Temples in Southern Song Dynasty, has a long history of over 1,600 years. Being the rite of Monk Maitrdya, it attracts a large number of eminent monks and pilgrims. In 1994, Zhao Puchu, the president of the Buddhism Association of China granted the Xuedou Temple as one the Five Famous Buddhism Mountains.
Wulei Sermon Temple
Located on the Wulei Mountain of Cixi in Ningbo, the Wulei Sermon Temple was initially founded in the Three Kingdoms Period. It is said that a famous Buddhist monk of India has once lived here sermonizing Buddhism. Being endowed with glorious halls, elegant pavilions and beautiful scenes, the Wulei Sermon Temple may be rated as one of the famous temples in east Zhejiang.
