A Brief introduction to Shenzhen Express way
As a new tourist city and passenger transport center of South China, Shenzhen has an expressway network centered in Shenzhen and radiated to the neighboring cities.
Meiguan Express wa
y is the important way connecting Hong Kong and Shenzhen. It starts at Huanggang Port in the south and ends at Dongguan in the north via Longhua and Guanlan. 19.3km long and a dual carriageway with six lanes, it was put into operation in May 1995.
44.6 km long and a dual carriageway with six lanes, Jihe Expressway was completed in May 1999. it connects with Shenzhen Airport in the west, get across with No.107 National Way and Guangshen Expressway, and get linked up with Shenshan Expressway via Hezhou, Longhua, Henggang. It is an important part of national expressway in eastern coastal area.
Guangshen Expressway links Hong Kong with Guangzhou via Dongguan. It was completed in 1993, and is a dual carriageway with six lanes. It ranges 46km within Shenzhen.
Shenshan Express way is an important way connecting Shenzhen with Shantou. It is also a coastal highway across the port. 16.5 km long in Shenzhen, it is a dual carriageway with four lanes. It was firstly put into operation in 1993.
Huiyan Expressway starts at Yantian Harbor and ends at Huizhou. It measures 34.6km long in Shenzhen. The expressway is a dual carriageway with four lanes.
Still under construction, Yanba Express way starts at Shatoujiao in the west, and ends at Huizhou via Yantian Harbor, Suimuisha, and Dameisha scenic spots. It measures 28.9km long. Part a, under construction of the first phase, is 10km and a dual carriageway with six lanes. It is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2000.
The three expressways in plan, which are expressways from Baimang to Dongguan, Buji to Dongguan, and Songgang to Dapeng, will be finished in 10 years.
It is estimated that Shenzhen Government will invest RMB 11 billion yuan to build expressways. Shenzhen aims to become the first one with an expressway network within its area.
Shenzhen expressways are famous for their first-class construction quality, first class management, and first-class service. it has advanced electronic toll-gates, monitoring system, and communication facilities along express ways. Jihe Expressway is known as the No.1 Expressway of Guangdong.
2. Meiguan Expressway
19.19km long, Meiguan Expressway starts at Meilin Inspection Site, and ends at Liguang Village bordering Dongguan, via Longhua town and Guanlan Town. It adopts a closed toll system and has four toll-gates of Meilin, Dafapu, Guanlan, and Liguang.
Meiguan Expressway connects Meilin Customs in the south and reaches the largest land port in Asia, Huanggang Port, via Huanggang Road. It passes the central part of Longhua Town in the north and gets across with Jihe Expressway and outer ring road in plan. The completion of the expressway not only shortens the way for those vehicles from Hong Kong to cross Special Economic Zone, but also gives a big push to the development of the area along the road.
3. No.205 National Way (Shenzhen Section)
No.205 National Way, Shenzhen Section is a first-class highway from Shenzhen to Huizhou. It begins at Buji Inspection Site, and ends at bordering part of Huizhou via Henggang Town, Longgang Town, and Pingdi Town. It measures 35.45km long and is a dual carriageway with six lanes. It adopts an open two-way toll system. The expressway is the main road to Huizhou, Shantou, and eastern part of Guangdong from Shenzhen, and also the leading way for vehicles from Hong Kong to enter Shenzhen via Wenjin Port.
According to statistics, the transportation volume has reached 42,000 in 1996.
4. No.107 National Way (Shenzhen Section)
No.107 National Way, Shenzhen Section is a first-class highway from Shenzhen to Guangzhou. It starts at Nantou Inspection Site and ends at the bordering area with Dongguan via Xin'an, Xixiang, Fuyong, Shajing, and Songgang towns. It connects with Jihe Expressway in the middle. It ranges 31.68km and is a dual carriageway with six lanes. It adopts an open one-way toll system and has only one toll-gate at Songgang.
The expressway is one of the most important roads in Pearl River Delta. It is for gathering and dispatching passengers and cargoes among Shenzhen, Shantou, and Pearl River Delta, and for exporting and importing cargoes in Shekou Harbor. It links Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Besides the tourist attractions like Shenzhen Airport, Xifan, and Shiyan Lake, there are others sights along No.107 National Way, Shenzhen Section, such as, Xin'an and Fuyong industrial areas. There are many industrial and residential zones along the expressway. With the economic development of Shenzhen and the return of Hong Kong to China, The relationship between Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou are strengthened. The transportation volume will increase steadily.
