Linwudong Cave is located on the Xishan Island of Suzhou Taihu Lake. In it, numerous stones stand like a forest, and its top is as flat as a house-roof. That's why it was named Linwudong, which in Chinese means "Forest House Cave". It was recorded in the Taoist Book that the cave ranked the 9th among the 10 cave paradises in the whole country and was thus called "the 9th Cave Paradise". In this cave, there are a lot of grotesque rocks.
Each of them has a different appearance, some like the upturned stalactite hanging from the top; some like a line of stone troop; some like the flat clouds floating; some like a gleam in the clouds; some like halls, stoves or beds; some like birds and animals. If one goes through the cave, one would feel that he is making his way in a maze of the Eight Diagrams, therefore "Stone Forest" was named. It is really rare in the world.
