When ever I travel, I try to eat like a local and avoid the high cost of dining at hotels and resorts. The food is typically better, far less expensive and I get to have an experience by immersing myself in the local culture.
Use the Internet to research the best places to eat inexpensively before you reach your destination. Numerous travelers have given reviews to their favorite eateries and hang outs. Read their reviews and ask questions on travel forums.
On the plane - Ask the flight attendants for recommendations as they fly in and out of the city frequently.
At the hotel – Ask the concierge for tips, as they are quite familiar with the local area.
In town- Ask a local for ideas. They live there and know where to go.
Stick to local cuisine. For example, If you are in Costa Rica, the Chinese food is not going to be great, stick to local cuisine for a fun experience and an excellent meal.
