Macao's visitor arrivals reached 7.3 million in the first four months of 2009, a decrease of 8.1 percent year-on-year, according to the figures released on Monday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
Of the total, visitors from the Chinese mainland (3.7 million) and Taiwan (430,195) dropped by 14 percent and 4.2 percent respectively in the period, while those from Hong Kong ( 2.3 million), Japan (123,935) and Thailand (103,550) rose by 2.5 percent, 13.8 percent and 28.2 percent respectively, the DSEC said.
Analysed by mode of transport, visitor arrivals by sea, land and air totaled 3.06 million, 3.7 million and 522,126 respectively in the first four months of 2009, the DSEC figures indicated.
