BELGRADE, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Croatian President Stjepan Mesic started Sunday his Asian tour to visit Mongolia and China, where he will attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Beijing.
Mesic started his first official visit to Mongolia, at the invitation of Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar, the Croatian news agency HINA reported.
Mesic, who is scheduled to hold talks with his hosts on Monday, said that there were many opportunities for the Croatian economy on the Mongolian market, adding that the economy would be in the focus of his talks with Mongolian officials.
Apart from President Enkhbayar, Mesic is also expected to hold talks with the speaker of the Mongolian parliament Danzangin Lundejantsan and Prime Minister Sanjaagiin Bayar.
The Croatian delegation will sign several memoranda of understanding, including the one regulating cooperation between the two countries agencies for the promotion of exports and investments.
After Mongolia, Mesic is scheduled to visit the northeastern province of the People's Republic of China, Liaoning, and on Friday he will attend the official opening of the Olympic Games in Beijing.
