Dujiangyan, hit by the severe quake on May 12 last year, has begun to prepare for the possibility of the first post-quake peak summer tourist season, said Xu Fuyi, Mayor of Dujiangyan, Sichuan Province said on May 6.
Both the volume of tourist flow and tourism revenues of Mount Qingcheng-Dujiangyan Irrigation Project scenic spot have returned to 90 percent of the pre-quake level, said Xu.
Xu also said that the post-quake reconstruction in Dujiangyan has proceeded smoothly, with the city's volume of tourist flow in the first four months of this year recovering to 80 percent of the pre-quake level.
Since the tourism industry plays a major role in the municipal economy, Dujiangyan City has put special efforts towards the recovery and development of its tourism industry during post-quake reconstruction.
The damage at Dujiangyan Irrigation Project's Yuzui dyke which is well known by tourists all over the world was completely restored in June last year.
The renovation projects for the Dragon-Taming Temple and the Erwang Temple are expected to be complete by July this year and at the end of next year, respectively.
