Cheng Peak Scenic Spot
Located in Longxu Island Town of Rongcheng, Cheng Peak is the eastern part of Chengshan Mountains. The peak is 200 meters above the sea level. Cheng Peak is 0.75 kilometers wide from east to west I kilometer long from south to north, covering an area of 2.5 square kilometers. With green peaks. Blue sea, spectacular cliffs and curving waves, it is an ideal place to spend the summer, In 1988, under the approval of the State Council, it became a State-level scenic spot. There are Hailu Is land, Swan Lake, Piebald Colorful Stone, Seashore of Li Island, Cheng Peak Forest, Shi Huang Gao, Qin Dynasty Standing Stone, Sun-worshiping Terrace, the Remains of Qin Bridge, Sea watching Pavilion, Guantaochan and Zhenlong Stone.
Cheng Peak Wildlife Nature Reserves
Located in the east of Shandong Peninsula, Cheng Peak Wildlife Nature Reserves and Hunting Ground occupy a total area of 3,800mu and include many tourist spots like Beast of Prey Area, Herbivorous Animal Area, Bird Garden. Lion and Wolf Mountain, Wild Boar Forest and Monkey Hill. It is the only wildlife zoo where the animals can enjoy the natural environment leisurely.
Xixiakou Wildlife Zoo
Located in Longxu Island Town at Cheng Peak and covering and area of 2,000mu, Xixiakou Wildlife Zoo was started to be built in March 1997. The project Has 3 phases. Phase I included Beast of Prey Area, Herbivorous Animal Area and Wild Boar Area and opened on May 1st, 1998. Phase 2 included Bird Garden, Leopard Garden and Polar Bear Hall and completed on May 1st , 1998. Phase 3 includes Wildlife Area, Crocodile Hall, Reptile Hall and the World of Sea and will finish building work in 2000. This zoo will be one of the best in China.
Cha Hill
Located in the seashore of Yellow Sea to the south of Rongcheng and covering an area of 20 square kilometers, Cha Hill is an important birthplace of Taoism. Its Qingliang Peak is 539 meters above the sea level. According to historical books, Wang Chong yang established Quanzhen Sect of Taoism while Wang Yuyang established the Kunshan Sect of Taoism here and wrote a book named Yunguang Collection. Later, due to the large number of visitors to Yunguang Cave, Yuyang came to Qingliang Peak and cut Qianzhen Cave to carry on his practicing Taoism. Since ancient times, this area has been called a holy place, which was depicten in the Romance of the Immortals.
Chi Hill Fahua Monastery
Located at the southern foot of Chi Hill south of Shi Island in Rongcheng, the monastery was built by Zhang Baogao, a Korean in Tang Dynasty. A noted Japanese monk had stayed here on his way to study Tang's Buddhist doctrines. After he returned to his home country, he wrote a book on his visit of China. Chi Hill Fahua Monastery was not among the famous ones in China but it reflects the friendship of the people of China, Korea and Japan.
Kunyu Hill Scenic Spot
Located 25 kilometers northwest of Wendeng, Kunyu Hill is largest hill in the east of Shandong Province. Its peak is 923 meters high. Covering an area of 100li, the hill is situated in 3 cities, namely Wendeng, Mouping and Rushan. The hill boasts marvelous scenery. Legend has it that the ancient holy places such as Penglai, Fangzhang and Yingzhou were originated from here, Therefore, the ancient people called Kunyu Hill the an cestor of holy hills on the sea. Kunyu Hill is the birthplace of Quanzhen Sect of Taoism with unique natural scenery and colorful Taoist culture , Wang Chongyang, the famous Taoism practitioner, estab lished Quanzhen Scot of Taoism here. There remained Donghua Palace, Chaoyang Cave, Shengshui Palace, Yuxu Temple as well as some stone sculptures.
Bible Hill
Located 20 kilometers northwest of Wendeng. Bible Hill covers an area of nearly 8 square kilometers. On the peak is a piece of gigantic stone resembling a crescent moon. The hill was named after the 5000-word Taoist Classics inscribed on the south of stone. The holy stone has been listed among the Provincial-level key protective cultural relics. During Jin and Yuan periods, Wang Chongyang established his religious sect. Bible Hill is famous for its status as the birthplace of Quanzhen Sect of Taoism in the world.
