Thanks to the efforts during the Eighth Five-year Plan period, Wuyishan's transport facilities have greatly improved. With a total investment of more than 600 million yuan collected through various channels, Wuyishan City has constructed an airport, railways, highways and other tourism transport facilities. As a result a convenient and quick transport network consisting of highways, railways and airlines has been formed, and Wuyishan comes out in front in all famous tourism areas in China in terms of transport facilities. The Wuyishan Airport is now operating 18 domestic and international air routes. Regular flights fly from Wuyishan to Hong Kong. Beijing, Shanghai Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Xiamen and other large and medium-sized cities in China. The railways from Wuyishan to Fuzhou, Xiamen and Quanzhou have been opened to traffic. In 1998 and 1999, several dozens of special tourism trains ran from Beijing, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Wuhan to Wuyishan. In addition, Wuyishan City has public buses and special tourism buses going from the city proper to its scenic areas, plus more than 200 taxies, thus providing convenience to domestic and foreign tourists.
