Wuling Mountain Forest Park
Wuling Mountain Forest Park is a national nature reserve and a provincial forest park. It lies in Xinglong County, Hebei Province. Wuling Mountain is the main mountain of Yanshan Mountains, 2118 meters above the sea level, which is called "the First Peak in East Beijing". There are rich animal and plant resources. The covering rate of forest reaches to 61.7 percent, in which there are over 1900 kinds of superior plants, natural medicine above 600 kinds. Tens of rare flowers are the most valuable; Over 100 kinds of birds, 36 kinds of animals live here, among which there are pecuniary leopard and golden vulture, the first level animals of national protection. It is the largest nature science education base in the east of Beijing. There are human landscapes such as Fairy Pagoda, Lotus Pond, Crooked Peach Peak, Seven Wells, Dragon Pool Waterfall and so on.
Xinglong Observation Station of Beijing Planetarium
Xinglong Observation Station of Beijing Planetarium is located on the Yanshan Mountains, 20 kilometers southeast of Xinglong County. It is the observation base of celestial body physics of Beijing Planetarium in which now equipped with the biggest astronomical telescope in the Asian and Pacific area with the diameter of 2.16 meters. There provides the whole facilities of eating, clothing, housing and visiting. Since it is opened in 1981, it has received a lot of students and astronomers from home and abroad. At present, it can hold summer camp activities to publicize the science knowledge and it welcomes people to visit at any time.
