Martyr Li Shuoxun's Memorial Pavilion is located on Xunting Road, facing Wugong Temple of Haifu Road. The pavilion and its attached buildings cover an area of 4,000 square meters. In front of the pavilion there's a granite bust of the martyr Li Shuoxun. On the front side of the pedestal is Deng Xiaoping's inscription: "Long Live Martyr Li Shuoxun!" On the back is inscribed a comment on the martyr by Li Yimin. The ashes of Zhao Juntao, Li Shuoxun's wife, are buried to the right side of the bust. There's a colonnade with yellow walls and green tiles behind the pavilion. On the interior walls of the colonnade are inlayed eight marble carved stones with the martyr's original handwriting as well as inscriptions of Zhu De, Nie Rongzhen, Guo Moruo, Wu Yuzhang, Zhang Aiping, Zhou Shidi, Liu Huaqing etc. Beside the pavilion is an exhibition room; visitors may get some knowledge of the martyr Li Shuoxun's life here.
Li Shuoxun, also Li Tao, was born in Qingfu County (now Gao County) in Sichuan Province on February 23,1903. On August 31,1931, he was appointed Secretary of Military Commission of Guangdong Province. He came to Hainan to lead the armed revolution there under the leadership of the Party. Unfortunately, because of some betrayers, he was arrested after his arrival at
Haikou. He wouldn's yield to the enemies and faced the execution at Dongjiaochang bravely. He was only 28 when he died. At the place where he was executed now erects the memorial building complex, which is composed of a bust, a pavilion, a wall with memorial inscriptions and an exhibition room. The pavilion is rectangularly shaped with a height of 6.1 meters. On the horizontal board is an inscription by Wang Zhen: "A Memorial Pavilion of Martyr Li Shuoxun".
