The Ruins of Yangzhou City in the Tang Dynasty is now rated as a key site of cultural relics under State protection. Sprawling from the top to the foot of the Shugang Mountain, it is divided into two parts: Yucheng and Luocheng. It is next to the then capital cities of Changan and Luoyang in size.
The city wall surrounding the ruins of Yucheng in the Shugang Mountain has now come clearly into view, one of the most well preserved ruins of ancient cities in the country up to date.
Located within the Shugang Mt. Scenery, the museum was formerly an imperial palace of Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty in the southwest comer of the Yucheng Ruins of the Tang Dynasty. It integrated the historical sites with cultural and natural landscapes, epitomizing the ancient charm of the Tang Dynasty, the essence of culture in Tang Dynasty and its civilization in Yangzhou.
Climbing up the watchtowers on either side of the palace gate, visitors can overlook the elegant landscapes of Yangzhou, while at the same time looking far into the distance at the best views of the surrounding mountains, along with appreciating the refined products of cultural relics in the Tang Dynasty and octagonal stone pillars. With in the palaces or the pavilions, people can appreciate the cream of the local cultural relics of Tang Dynasty unearthed in Yangzhou to understand the local history and culture.
